IMD Predicts Heavy Rainfall Across Tripura: Alert Issued for May 1-3

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall across the state in the next three days—from May 1 to 3. An alert has been sounded and the people have been advised to stay updated.

 

The rain is likely to bring a major relief to the people as the heatwave continues to cripple life across the state.

 

A press release from the Meteorological Centre, Agartala said, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places over North, Unakoti and Dhalai districts and Thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 30-40 Kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places over the rest districts of Tripura on May 1. The North Tripura, Unakoti and Dhalai districts are likely to receive Heavy Rainfall (7-11 cm) in 24 hours.

 

On May 2, heavy (7-11 cm in 24 hours) to very heavy rainfall (11-20 cm in 24 hrs) is very likely to occur over Gomati, West Tripura, North Tripura, Khowai, Unakoti and Dhalai districts along with Thunderstorm with lightning and Gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph. Besides, heavy rainfall (7-11 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur over South and Sepahijala districts along with thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph, the press release said.

 

Besides, thunderstorm with lightning and gusty wind speed reaching 40-50 Kmph is very likely to occur at isolated places over the districts. Heavy (7-11 cm in 24 hours) is very likely to occur over North, Dhalai and Gomati districts.
