Tripura News: Agartala Press Club Holds Annual General Meeting
The Agartala Press Club held its annual general meeting on Sunday. The meeting began at 11:30 am with the lighting of the inaugural lamp. The presidium of the meeting included Agartala Press Club president Jayanta Bhattacharjee, vice president Sajjad Ali, senior journalists Sroto Ranjan Khisa, Arun Nath, Sanjib Deb, Samir Pal, and Chitra Roy.
Agartala Press Club Secretary Ramakanta Dey presented the Annual report and the club's income and expenditure accounts. A total of 16 journalists, discussed the Annual report and the income and expenditure statement.
Senior journalist Sroto Ranjan Khisa initiated the discussion. Other senior journalists who spoke on the Annual report included Chitra Roy, Shekhar Dutta, Samir Pal, Sanjib Deb, Samir Dhar, Uttam Chakraborty, Suprabhat Debnath, Debashish Mazumdar, Subhash Das, Sutapa Gupta, Meghdhan Deb, Chandrima Sarkar, and Samir Debbarma. Associate members Parijat Dutta and Harihar Debnath also spoke.
All the speakers gave valuable suggestions and expressed their full support for the Annual report. Speakers also hailed the functioning the existing Committee. Members thanked the Club Committee for organizing sports events for the family members of the media persons.
In his reply speech, the Secretary said that he would try his best to implement the important suggestions of the general meeting.
Agartala Press Club president Jayanta Bhattacharjee thanked all the members for their cooperation in running the club during the past year.
On the occasion of the annual general meeting, a condolence meeting was held to mourn the death of founding members Gautam Das and Paritosh Biswas, senior members Dulal Chakraborty and Partha Sengupta, Debashish Barua, young journalist Konad Modak, and associate members Kalyan Gupta and Sushanta Debbarma. The members stood up for two minutes in silence to pay their respects to the departed.
