September 20 ,2017: The Afghan President Ashraf Ghani has expressed concern over terrorist threats and backed the new US Strategy.
He was addressing the United Nations General Assembly yesterday in New York. Ghani said US President Donald Trump’s new Afghan strategy sent a signal to Taliban guerrillas that they cannot win on the field and must negotiate peace.
He instead has sent thousands more troops to Afghanistan and pledged a tougher line on Pakistan, which has long faced US criticism for its intelligence services’ ties with jihadists and for harboring terrorists.
Mr. Ghani said, Afghanistan now also have an opportunity for a dialogue with the neighbours on how to work together earnestly to eliminate terrorism and contain extremism. Mr. Ghani called upon Pakistan to engage with Afghanistan on a comprehensive state to state dialogue on peace, security and regional cooperation leading to prosperity. (AIR NEWS)
