Boxer Mandeep Jangra Receives Arjuna Award 2015

Minister of State (Independent Charges) for Youth affairs and Sports Shri Sarbananda Sonowal  conferred Arjuna Award 2015 in New Delhi on Sep 16, 2015 in the discipline of Boxing to Mandeep Jangra. He received statuette, certificate and award money of Rs.5 lakh. Boxer Mandeep Jangra could not receive the Arjuna Award from President of India on 29August 2015 as he was taking part in an international boxing tournament abroad.

According to Wikipedia, Mandeep Jangra (born 19 May 1993) is an Indian amateur boxer. He won the silver medal at the 2013 Asian Amateur Boxing Championships in the welterweight category. He represented India at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow in the same category and won the silver medal. Jangra is coached by Indian boxer Akhil Kumar and supported by Anglian Medal Hunt Company.
