Tripura CM seeks Amul India’s help for dairy industry

December 05, 2018: Gujarat’s Amul India Limited – leading dairy industry in the country assured Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb of extending all possible assistance to the State government in improving Dairy Industry in the State as well as in achieving self-reliance in milk production.

The assurance from Amul Limited came up in Chief Minister’s meeting with representatives of Amul India Limited in Agartala today. The State Government is eyeing on agri-allied sector for improving farmers’ earning as well as creating job opportunities. Earlier, Horticulture farmers got a boost with Government’s initiative for exporting pineapples. At the same time, Government is stressing on Animal Husbandry for regular earnings.   

The meeting assumes a lot of importance as Biplab Deb stressed on creating sustainable livelihood opportunities in Animal Husbandry sector. During the meeting, Deb said, State Government will distribute 10,000 cows to 5,000 families with emphasize on women beneficiaries. He sought coopration from Amul in optimizing the benefit of the initiative.

Dr. S.T. Deshai, senior dairy expert of Amul India Limited, has assured the Chief Minister of extending all possible assistance to the state government.

Chief Secretary L.K. Gupta, Secretary to Animal Resource Development department Rameswar Das and representatives of the Amul India Limited also attended the meeting.

Meanwhile, the Secretary to Animal Resource Development department was directed to prepare a plan for improving the dairy industry in consultation with the Amul India Limited.
