Tripura: Heroin seized in city, 2 arrested

Agartala, January 13, 2019: Police seized drugs of worth Rs 25 lakh today from two areas in Agartala under West Tripura.

In the ongoing crusade against drug smuggling, City Police led by SDPO (Sadar) Suman Majumdar today seized over 800 gm heroin from Barjala and Krishnanagar. Police also arrested two peddlers-NiharRanjan Roy alias Powder Raju, a resident of Barjala and Tubai Debbarma, a resident of Krishnanagar.

They were produced before a local court which sent them to Jail Custody and also directed the Investigating Officer to submit the Case Diary. Powder Raju brought the drug for his local clients.

Police, however, based on a secret input raided at his house and seized the drug worth Rs 25 lakh. During questioning, Raju divulged the name of Tubai who used to deliver the drug to the customers on phone call. A team of Police pounced on him and seized 14 gm of heroin from his scooty. “We are working on the inputs. Soon, we will be able to bust the whole drug racket”, SP (West) AjitPratap Singh told reporters.
