By-poll in Tripura: AMC Mayor files nomination for Ramnagar Assembly seat, vows to Serve Diligently
Amidst the high-octane filing of nominations by BJP and Congress candidates for the West Tripura Parliamentary seat, Dipak Majumder, the Mayor of the Agartala Municipal Corporation, submitted his nomination on Wednesday for the upcoming bypoll in the Ramnagar Assembly constituency.
The bypoll in the Ramnagar Assembly seat was necessitated by the unfortunate demise of BJP MLA Surajit Datta in December last year. Scheduled to be held concurrently with the first phase of the Lok Sabha polls on April 19, the bypoll has drawn significant attention.
Before filing his nomination papers, Majumder sought the blessings of late Surajit Datta’s wife. She expressed confidence in Majumder's candidacy, predicting his victory by a record margin.
The excitement among BJP supporters surged as they gathered in large numbers to demonstrate their backing for Majumder. A vibrant rally paraded through the streets of the capital city as Majumder formally submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer for the Ramnagar bypolls, Additional SDM Bipul Das.
Addressing the press, Majumder expressed his deep appreciation to the party leadership for entrusting him with the opportunity to contest the election. He also extended his heartfelt gratitude to the constituents for their unwavering support, highlighting his track record and achievements during his tenure at the AMC over the past three years.
Regarding the presence of the late Surajit Dutta’s wife by his side, Majumder acknowledged Dutta's remarkable decade-long service to the constituency, portraying him as a paternal figure to the area's residents. He pledged to diligently fulfill his responsibilities to meet the expectations of the people.
State BJP General Secretary Papia Dutta, AMC Councilors, and other senior leaders joined Dipak Majumder during the day's events, underscoring the party's support for his candidacy.
