Corona strikes Melaghar PS, GBP gynecology ward sealed off

Fresh 141 persons were tested Covid19 positive in Tripura today. Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said this in a social media message.

Meanwhile, after Bisramganj police station, menacing Covid19 struck Melaghar Police Station under Sepahijala district in Tripura.

One on-duty police Assistant sub-inspector of Melagarh police station was found to be positive to the novel corona virus. As per the available information, ASI Birendra Das fell ill while in duty. After he reported complaints of high fever, he had been granted leave for treatment.

Das rushed to the local hospital and his swab samples were collected. He had been diagnosed with the Covid 19 late on Wednesday night. Sources in the police department said, there were 4 more police officials who were suffering from the same problems. Das’s Covid 19 report triggered a sense of panic among other police officials and personnel too.

As of now, there were 31 police personnel posted at the police station and locals of the area had raised a demand to declare the police station as a containment zone.

Sources also said, 26 of them would undergo the swab sample test on July 12 next. Only recently, a police official of Bisramganj police station under the same district also tested positive to the Covid 19.

While everyday fresh covid19 cases are being detected, one unit of State's GBP Hospital had been sealed off. The gynecology ward of the GBP hospital had been sealed off for three days after three of the on-duty nurses had been diagnosed with Covid 19.  The ward would be sanitized before resuming services there once again. The close contacts of the patients had been already isolated.
