INDIA bloc Leaders in Tripura seek people's support for saving democracy, constitution

The INDI Alliance leaders in Tripura sported a happy face as they 'noticed' the spontaneous enthusiasm of the supporters during the nomination filing of INDIA bloc nominee Ashish Saha on Wednesday.

Speaking to the media, Tripura CPIM State Secretary Jitendra Choudhury and Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman expressed their observations and said a renewed sense of purpose among the people to save the democracy and the Indian Constitution was palpable in the State as well as other parts of the country.

“The enthusiasm of people is not just for casting their votes or to change the government only. Their enthusiasm reflected the determination of saving country and constitution".

"This eagerness of the people will have to spread across the State and we held a meeting of 8 constituents of INDIA bloc in Tripura on Wednesday to chalk out strategies to spread passion and enthusiasm of people across the State”, Choudhury said to the media.

The CPIM leader also appealed to the administration and the Election Commission to ensure the prevalence of ‘level-field’ for all the parties.

Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman the mood of the BJP-led alliance and INDIA bloc supporters and highlighted the ‘lively and courageous’ participation of INDI Alliance supporters during Saha’s nomination paper submission on Wednesday.

He also mentioned the rally evoked a good response from the common people which raised our confidence and thanked them all.

Roy Barman slammed the Modi-led Government saying that the ‘Electoral Bond’ issue exposed the ‘ugly and naked’ face of the Government. Without naming, he also criticized the Modi-led government for running a ‘total Hitler type’ one-man show which has endangered the constitutional rights of common people.

The Congress MLA urged people to support the INDIA bloc candidates for ‘restoration of democracy’ and ‘saving the Constitution’.

Notably, Tripura Pradesh Congress Chief Ashish Saha nominated as the INDIA bloc candidate is pitted against BJP-IPFT-TIPRA Motha Party alliance candidate and former Chief Minister of the State Biplab Kumar Deb in the West Tripura LS seat while CPIM’s Rajendra Reang is contesting as the INDI alliance candidate from the East Tripura Parliamentary Constituency against BJP-led alliance candidate Maharani Kriti Singh.

The elections in Tripura will be held in two phases – The west seat will go into polls on April 19 while elections for the East LS seat will be held on April 26.
