Speaking on the occasion, Dr Manik Saha said, Yoga has a connection with the soul and it has become country’s heritage and pride today.

The Chief Minister said that before 2014, the enthusiasm for yoga among the people of the country was limited. But due to the tireless efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yoga has now reached the world stage. It was due to the efforts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi that June 21 was declared as International Yoga Day.

Dr Saha further said that in student life, sports should be continued along with studies. When one is involved in sports, positive thinking develops. By participating in sports, one gets to know each other’s language and culture -this is a culture of our country.

He said, at present, the girls of the state are also making a name for themselves in the sports world. If the girls of the country progress, the country also makes progress. The present government of the state is very sincere about the development of sports. The state government is launching new projects to improve sports infrastructure and to explore new talent in the sports world. As a result, the girls and boys of the state are making a name for themselves at the national and international levels.

He said that there is no dearth of talent among the boys and girls of our state. Yoga and sports provide an opportunity for the development of that talent as a healthy body gives birth to a healthy mind.

The Chief Minister told the young players that winning medals is not the main objective, participation in the competition is itself the selfishness.

In his speech Sports Minister said, “It was truly inspiring to witness the dedication and talent of the competitors from different universities who displayed the ancient art of yoga with perfect skill. I congratulate all the medal winners and participants of this year’s event for their extraordinary achievements and wish them a bright future”.
