Landslide win in ULB polls, BJP celebrates in style

Tripura Pradesh BJP brought out a colourful victory rally in Agartala on Thursday in celebration of party’s landslide victory in recently concluded Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and other Urban Local Body polls in the State.

The ruling BJP recorded victory in 329 seats out of the total 334 seats including 112 seats which BJP won uncontested.

The rally, led by State party president Dr Manik Saha, started from the BJP State office. Party flags, colourful balloons and decorated vehicles added hue to the rally. Thousands of supporters marched through the city streets dancing in tune with drum beatings and songs hailing the victory of the party as well as the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister.

Draped in saffron and green abir, supporters in joyful mood walked down the streets. Presence of large number of women was noticeable.

State level party leaders along with the leaders of different frontal organizations and supporters walked in the rally. Winning candidates of different wards of AMC flashed victory signs and marched along.

Even as the Party supporters raised slogans, however, they refrained from raising slogans against any of the Opposition parties. In essence, the rally demonstrated more of celebration in style than aggression – and that helped to create a joyful ambience.

People on both sides of the roads were enjoying the show. Traffic movements along the rally route were affected – however, singing, dancing and drum beatings helped the commuters to bear with the stagnant traffic.
