Skilling Initiatives to Empower Women in Tripura; MoS Chandrasekhar reviews facilities

Union Minister of State for Electronics & IT and Skill Development and Entrepreneurship Rajeev Chandrasekhar, who is on a three-day tour of Tripura, today visited the Govt Industrial Training Institute (ITI)-for women in Agartala and reviewed facilities for skilling, education and training.

 

He met the trainers and staff at the Institute in Indra Nagar here, who briefed him about their skilling efforts and the opportunities for entrepreneurship and jobs available in the region.

 

The ITI is being further strengthened by the Govt of India under the Model ITI Scheme.  A financial assistance of Rs 7.2 crores has been sanctioned by the Centre.

 

 “Empowering women with skills & creating opportunities for jobs and Entrepreneurship is at core of PM Narendra Modi’s AtmaNirbharBharat vision” said Rajeev Chandrasekhar during his interaction with the officials present.

 

As part of his other engagements, the Minister visited Ghilatali village in Kalyanpur, about 55 KMs from Agartala and interacted with the locals and had lunch at tribal leader Himangsu Debbarmas house in East Gilatali.

 

Later, he visited the newly constructed building of Community Health Centre at Kalyanpur, Khowai

 

He also met Party leaders and workers at the party office in Kalyanpur along with Amit Rakshit, Rajib Bhattacharjee and MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury amongst others.

 

Chandrasekhar will be returning to New Delhi tomorrow.

 

But leaving for New Delhi on Saturday (Aug 13), Chandrasekhar will address a Tiranga Rally in Hawaibari village, Teliamura and hold interactions with students, entrepreneurs and the general public.
