Socio-cultural, religious activities mark Mahalaya in Tripura

Mahalaya-Tripura-Tarpan-ChandipathAmidst iconic Chandipath by Birendra Kishore Bhadra marking Mahalaya on early Sunday morning – denoting the ending of Pitri Paksha and beginning of Devi Paksha, people in Tripura offered ‘Tarpans’ to their ancestors.

 

Priests and devotees assembled near the rivers and lakes where tarpans and prayers were offered to the ancestors. Young people also accompanied the devotees and large crowds were noticed at the site of Tarpans and prayers.

 

Besides, on this day, RSS volunteers of West Tripura held Pada Sanchalan in Agartala and other parts of the State.

 

A rally was organized as part of the Mahalaya observance at Dharmanagar under North Tripura in which more than 2500 artists dressed in colourful attire took part. The rally roamed around Dharmanagar town and prayed for the invocation of Maa Durga through songs and dances.

 

RSS-Pada-Sanchalan-Tripura-MahalayaLocal people thronged both sides of the road and enjoyed the show in the early morning today. Deputy Speaker Biswabandhu Sen arranged the rally.

 

RSS South District Committee organized a Pada Sanchalan at Sabroom today marking the Mahalaya. About 350 volunteers of the South District RSS took part in the procession. Hundreds of people witnessed the march.  

 

A Prabhat Pheri was organized by an NGO ‘Uchhas’ on the occasion of Mahalaya in Jolaibari under South Tripura today. Members of the NGO and local people participated in the bike rally that started from Pilak Bazar and traversed through different roads in Jolaibari before ending at Pilak Bazar.

 

A cloth distribution programme was organized as part of the observance of Mahalaya by the Teliamura-based "Khitish Deb Smriti Britti Pradan Committee" at the initiative of a prominent lawyer of the state, Bhaskar Deb.

 

The programme was held at Teliamura Ram Thakur Seva Mandir today. Ex-MLA of Teliamura Gauri Das, eminent social worker and former teacher Kshirod Deb, late Khitish Deb's wife Madhuri Dev, lawyer Bhaskar Deb and his wife lawyer Sujata Deb Gupta and other distinguished persons were present there.

Volunteers of the RSS held a Pada Sanchalan along the Kadamtala- Churaibari Road in which thousands of RSS volunteers from all the Shakas of North Tripura participated.

 

The programme was held today evening as part of the observance of Mahalaya. Women welcomed the RSS volunteers with ululation and blowing conch shells.

 

Common people, in large numbers, took part and enjoyed programmes organized to mark the observance of Mahalaya in Tripura today.
