Testing for Covid19 using Antigen Detection Kit starts in Tripura
The State Government has started testing people for Covid19 with Antigen Detection Kit from Friday. Education Minister Ratan Lal Nath said this in a press conference in Agartala today. He said, new testing process for Covid19 has started and health workers are using Antigen Detection Kit to detect suspected Covid patient. This kit helps in quick detection of corona positive case.
Detailing further, Nath said, Passengers of Rajdhani Express who arrived in Agartala on Friday were tested using the Antigen Detection Kit. He also informed media that steps had been taken to use this new testing system in all the entry points of the State.
In an attempt to increase Covid19 tests, ICMR has already suggested States to use Antigen Detection Kit and Tripura Government recently took a decision to use the Kit for Covid19 testing. Antigen test can show results within 30 minutes and this testing does not require any specialized machine.
In this connection, Ratan Lal Nath also pointed out that even as Covid19 cases are increasing – recovery rate in Tripura is as high as 77 per cent.
Earlier, speaking in a programme, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb said Tripura is one of the top five States in terms of Covid19 management.
Health Officials believe that introduction of Antigen Detection Kit will bolster Health Department’s effort to find out and isolate Covid19 affected persons quickly.
