TMP to explore 'alternative measures' to fulfill demands, CM pays courtesy visit to Pradyot

In a significant turn of events, two key developments unfolded in Tripura on Thursday (May 25).

Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, the chief of the TIPRA Motha Party, made an announcement regarding the exploration of "alternative measures" to fulfill his party's demands.

Later in the evening, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha paid a courtesy visit to Debbarma to inquire about his health condition.

Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, upon his arrival at the MBB Airport in Agartala, revealed that his party will seek alternative measures to achieve the aspirations of the indigenous people, including the demands for Greater Tipraland and Constitutional solutions. He expressed dissatisfaction with what he perceived as conflicting statements from the Central and State governments regarding the TIPRA Motha Party's demands.

Due to the lack of progress in meeting their demands and the appointment of an Interlocutor, Debbarma expressed the need to explore alternative avenues to support his party's objectives. He mentioned a recent meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, which he claimed had elicited a "positive response." Debbarma criticized the State Government, accusing it of failing to cooperate in addressing the TIPRA Motha Party's demands.

Drawing attention to the contrasting statements issued by the state government, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma raised concerns that their actions may have impeded progress in discussions surrounding the appointment of an "Interlocutor" to address the issues faced by the indigenous people.

In an effort to strengthen their endeavors, Debbarma announced plans to restructure the party and introduce new leadership. A comprehensive review of the party's structure will be conducted in consultation with senior leadership to enhance effectiveness in addressing the needs and aspirations of the people.

Seeking an audience with the Governor, TIPRA Motha Party aims to hold a meeting to discuss the prevailing issues. The outcome of this meeting is expected to play a crucial role in determining the party's future course of action, including the exploration of alternative paths to address their demands.

Pradyot Kishore emphasized the importance of focusing on pertinent issues during discussions, rather than resorting to personal attacks. This statement indirectly referred to recent remarks made by Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha regarding the title "Maharaja."

In another development, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha went to meet Pradyot Kishore who was reported to be unwell and inquired about his health condition. In a social media post, Dr Saha wrote, “Today, met Tipra Motha Chief Shri PradyotManikyaJi at his palace after getting news of his poor health conditions. We also discussed various issues pertaining to the interest of the state. I provided warm wishes to him for his speedy recovery.”

However, Dr Saha’s visit close on the heels of his statement pertaining to 'Maharaja' title of Pradyot Kishore sparked speculations.
