TMP to initiates major overhaul: Pradyot promises intensified movement in Tripura

In a significant move aimed at revamping the party and its organizational structure, the TIPRA Motha Party (TMP) convened a crucial meeting at the iconic Ujjayanta Palace on Saturday (May 27) morning.

The meeting chaired by TMP chief Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, focused on charting out future organizational activities and devising strategies to bolster the movement in support of its demand for ‘Greater Tipraland’ and constitutional solutions of issues relating to the indigenous people.

Addressing the media persons, Pradyot Kishore Debbarma, shed light on the party's plans for the near future. He emphasized that within the next 20-25 days, a comprehensive overhaul of the party's framework would be carried out, with a major restructuring expected at all levels, ranging from primary units to block, central, and core committees.

Moreover, sweeping changes were also slated for the Youth and women's wings of the party, ensuring a comprehensive transformation throughout the organization.

The core objective behind this internal transformation, as explained by Pradyot, is to galvanize the party's strength and unity, enabling a more resolute and forceful pursuit of the longstanding demands that lie at the heart of the TIPRA Motha's ideology.

These demands encompass issues such as Greater Tipra land, the attainment of a constitutional solution, the recognition of Roman script for the Kokborok, and the conduction of village council elections, among others.

The meeting witnessed the presence of prominent figures and key stakeholders within the TMP. In attendance were distinguished individuals such as the Chairman of the TTAADC (Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council), the Chief Executive Member (CEM), Executive Members (EMs), Members of the District Council (MDCs), as well as dedicated members and supporters of the TIPRA Motha Party. Additionally, the participation of party MLAs (Members of the Legislative Assembly) added significant weight to the proceedings, highlighting the collective commitment to the party's cause and objectives.

After arriving in Agartala a couple of days ago, Debbarma announced that an important meeting will be held for restructuring the organization and making it prepare to carry out agitation in support of its demand. The announcement came up in view of the repeated failure of the arrival of an ‘Interlocutor’ in the State to look into the issues of the indigenous people. Moreover, in a recent video message, Debbarma also revealed that some of the TMP leaders were keen to join BJP.

In the backdrop of such situations, today’s meeting was crucial, and drastic changes are expected. The TMP chief's move to redesign the organization will be closely followed by political analysts.
