Tripura Assembly Polls: Left Front announces candidate list, Manik Sarkar not to contest (to be updated)
Left Front announced the list of candidates for the February 16 Polls in 60 Assembly constituencies in Tripura on Wednesday. Out of the 60 seats, CPIM will contest in 43 seats, CPI, Forward Block and RSP will contest in one seat each. Congress, an ally of the Left Front, will contest in 13 seats while Left Front-backed Independent will contest in 1 seat.
Speaking to the media, Left Front Convener Narayan Kar said a total of eight sitting members will refrain from contesting in the Polls and will focus on the party’s campaign. The List of the 8 candidates includes Opposition leader Manik Sarkar, Deputy Leader of the Opposition Badal Chowdhury, Bhanu Lal Saha, Tapan Chakraborty, Narayan Chandra Chowdhury, Sahid Chowdhury, Jashbir Tripura and Mabasar Ali.
The Convener of the Left Front said 24 new faces will be in the fray as the Left Candidates. There are two women among the 43+3 Left Front candidates.
