Tripura by Poll results: BJP wins 3 seats, Cong 1; Dr Manik Saha of BJP and Sudip Roy Barman of Cong among winners

DR-Manik-Saha-Tripura-CM-wins-by-pollsBharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidates won in three seats and Congress won in one out of the 4 Assembly seats in which by-polls were held on June 23 last.

 

Left Front relegated to third position in three Assembly constituencies – Agartala, Bordowali and Surma while it became runner up in Jubarajnagar from where CPM won in 2018 Assembly polls.

 

Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha won the Assembly by-polls from 8-Town Bordowali seat. He defeated his nearest rival, ex-MLA and ex-BJP leader Asish Saha of Congress.

 

As per the available, Dr Manik Saha of BJP polled total 17,181 votes while his rival Asish Saha secured total 11,077 votes. Dr Saha won the by poll by 6104 votes.

Among other contestants, Raghunath Sarkar of All India Forward Bloc got 3376 votes and Trinamool Congress candidate Sanhita Banerjee managed to poll only 986 votes.

 

In 2018 Assembly polls, Asish Saha, on BJP ticket secured 24,293 votes against his AIFB rival Biswanat Saha who polled 13,115.  

 

Sudip-Roy-Barman-wins-Tripura-by-pollThe 6-Agartala seat went to ex-MLA and former BJP leader Sudip Roy Barman who quit the saffron party and joined BJP this year. Roy Barman secured 17, 431 votes and BJP candidate Dr Ashok Sinha polled 14,268 votes. Roy Barman won by 3163 votes.

CPM candidate Krishna Majumder polled 6808 votes and Panna Deb of TMC bagged 842 votes only.  

 

In contrast, Sudip Roy Barman on BJP ticket polled 25,234 votes and CPM candidate Krishna Majumder secured 17,852 votes.

 

Meanwhile, in 57-Jubarajnagar Assembly Constituency Malina Debnath won and polled 18769 votes.  This Assembly seat was won by CPM candidate Ramendra Ch Debnath in 2018. By-polls were necessitated after his death. In the by poll, CPM candidate Shailendra Ch Nath polled 14197 votes. Among other parties, TMC candidate Mrinal Kanti Debnath polled 1440 votes and Congress candidate Sushmita Debnath managed to get 1440 votes.   

 

In 2018 Assembly polls, CPM won and polled 18,147 votes while BJP was in 2nd position with 17,498 votes.

 

In 46-Surma seat, BJP candidate Swapna Das Paul secured 16472 votes and she defeated Tipra Motha candidate Baburam Satnami. Tipra Motha secured 11912 votes. CPM candidate Anjan Das relegated to the 3rd position and secured 8296 seats.  

 

In 2018 Assembly polls, BJP candidate won and secured 20,767 votes against the CPM candidate who polled 18057 votes.
