Tripura: Dressed in Police uniform, three persons attack areca nut traders in Jampui, snatch over Rs 1.36 lakh

 

Nine areca nut traders were attacked in Jampui under North Tripura by three persons who were reportedly in Police Uniform and were travelling on a vehicle with ‘Police’ sticker on late November 29 night. 

The attackers snatched Rs 1,36,700 from the traders. 

Such an attack and snatching money is a rare incident in a place like Jampui Hill. 

The incident occurred near Hmawngchuan and Vaisam villages.  

The locals rushed to the spot after hearing commotion and the attackers fled away towards Kanchanpur. 

An FIR has been lodged at Vanghmun Police Station to this end by one Amir Uddin and Inspector Suleman Reang, Officer In Charge of Vanghmun PS received the FIR.

The FIR read, "I, Sri Amir Uddin S/o Abdul Sattar hereby lodge an FIR against three people in police uniform  (one of them having 3 stars insigna) and one driver travelling in a white Bolero with label "POLICE" (Vehicle Reg No TR05-3323) on it who physically assaulted us betel nut traders and extort from us cash money amounting  to Rs. 136,700/- (Rupees One Lakh Thirty Six Thousand Seven Hundred) near Vaisam village of Jampui Hill around 10 PM - 11 PM of 29 November 2022."

It further read, "I request you to kindly initiate a free and fair investigation so that the offenders are identified and due punishment be given to them as per the law of the land without fear or favour."
