Freak mishap: Boy seriously hurt


In a freak accident, a 13-year old boy sustained critical head injuries in Tripura on Wednesday. The boy, Shimul Debbarma is undergoing treatment at GB Hospital in Agartala. The mishap took place at Bachaibari under Champahaor area in Khowai on Wednesday.


Shimul’s mother was cutting banana plants at her residence – she was completely unaware that her son, Shimul was on her opposite side behind the banana plants. As she was cutting the plants, the machete (dau) slipped from her hand and struck Shimul’s head.


Relatives rushed Shimul to Khowai Hospital with the machete remained stuck on his head. As the wounds were deep, he was referred to the GB Hospital where doctors were trying to pull out the machete from Shimul’s head. Till the last report, several diagnostic tests were conducted to access the wound. 


Road accidents: 2 dead 4 injured


At least 2 persons died and 4 injured in two separate road accidents at Gandacherra subdivision in Tripura on Wednesday. 


The first incident took place at Majhimani Para of Ratan Nagar ADC village under Raisyabari Police Station area.  A Commander jeep (TR 2889) with 15 passengers lost control and overturned. In the mishap, one passenger, Sonar Kumar Tripura (55) died on the spot.  Besides, 3 passengers were injured seriously.


In a separate incident, a bike rider Labanjoy Tripura (30) of Boalkhali Puspadhan Para died when his bike had a head-on collision with a Wagoner car (TR 01P0632) in Gandachhera subdivision today. In the incident pillion rider, Swapanjoy Tripura (33) was injured seriously. Swapanjoy also hails from the same locality of the deceased.
