Tripura News: Pistol-Wielding PMAY beneficiary Threatens Panchayat Secretary dire consequence
A notorious pistol-wielding individual from the Ujan Fatickchhara area under Lefunga police station allegedly threatened to kill the panchayat secretary of the Rajghat ADC Village Panchayat office with his pistol on Monday. A complaint was lodged at the Lefunga police station.
The panchayat secretary and all other employees did not come to the office on Tuesday due to fear. They are currently working from the Lefunga block. The incident took place yesterday in broad daylight.
Notably, Molen was recently caught by the public with a pistol in the Barkathal area and was later handed over to the police. After spending about 6 months in jail, he came out and committed this act again Monday.
Molen Debbarma went to the Rajghat ADC Village Panchayat office on Monday with a pistol and threatened to kill the panchayat secretary over the demand for instalments under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana.
Speaking to the media, the victim of the incident, the GRS of the ADC Village Panchayat, said that Molen Debbarma, son of Birendra Debbarma, is a beneficiary of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana and had received the first instalment of the money in due course. However, the authorities withheld his remaining instalments because he did not start construction of the house under the scheme even after receiving the first instalment.
Subsequently, Molen Debbarma misbehaved with the Rajghat ADC Village Panchayat authorities and even the block authorities over the instalment money. The authorities claimed that the money would not be released unless a house construction was started. Irked at this, Debbarma threatened to kill the panchayat secretary unless the instalment was released.
At the time, the panchayat secretary Nandan Rabi Das, GRS Motilal Dutta, and two women employees Kalpana Debbarma and Sharmila Debbarma were present in the panchayat.
A case has been filed at the Lefunga police station in connection with the incident, and the police are actively trying to arrest the accused, said BDO of the Lefunga block Lalit Chakma. In addition, the Rajghat ADC Village authorities and the BDO of Lefunga block have demanded appropriate punishment for the accused Lalit Chakma in this incident.
