Tripura Pradesh Cong spews venom at BJP over attack on party's leaders

Tripura-Pradesh-Cong-Birjit-szaritaTripura Pradesh Congress lashed out at the ruling BJP after miscreants attacked Congress MLA Sudip Roy Barman at Majlishpur near Agartala on Thursday (Aug 12). Congress leaders also blamed the Police for its ‘failure’ in tackling the miscreants and allow democratic movements.

Roybarman along with several others was attacked allegedly by some BJP miscreants in presence of Police. Roybarman and other injured Congress supporters were admitted to Hospitals yesterday.

Reacting sharply while addressing a press conference in Agartala on Friday, Tripura Pradesh Congress chief Birjit Sinha spewed venom at the ruling party and alleged BJP has established a Goondaraj’ in Tripura.

“The attack on Congress MLA on Thursday was pre-planned. The attack could have been fatal. Ironically, police remained a mute spectator,” Sinha said.

He blamed ICA Minister Sushanta Choudhury for the attack. Sinha said, “The actual man responsible for the attack on Congress leaders and activists was minister Sushanta Choudhury”. He demanded sacking of Choudhury from the State cabinet.

Birajit Sinha slammed the Police administration for its role and not giving permission to carry forward democratic protests. Sinha asked, “Is it a democracy or something else”?

He also vented anguish at the role of the Police.

Addressing the press, TPCC in-charge Szarita Laitphlang showed a piece of brick to the media and said,” Chief Minister and functionaries of BJP Party in Tripura promised to provide house-to-house jobs in Tripura. Now it is clear that the jobs provided by BJP are stone pelting and hooliganism jobs in exchange of Rs 500-1,000 as per-day income”.

Szarita added, “The Police officers should be ashamed of what they did yesterday, the SPO who assured us to take us to the police station failed to protect the Congress leaders and activists”.

Injured Congress leader Sushanta Choudhury also attended the press meet.

Former TPCC president Gopal Roy, senior Congress leader Asish Kumar Saha also remained present at the press conference on Thursday.
