Tripura's chess prodigy Arshiya to compete in World Jr Chess Championship

Arshiya Das, the pride of the Northeast and the lone female Candidate Master chess player from the region, is set to don the country's jersey as she gears up to compete in the World Junior Chess Championship. The championship is scheduled to take place from June 1-14 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, where Arshiya will represent India.

Last year, the talented eighth grader from Holy Cross School in Agartala displayed her prowess by securing 7.5 points in 11 rounds, finishing 13th in the National Junior (Under-19) Chess Championship held in Gujarat.

Her impressive performance in the national championship earned her a spot in the World Cup this year. Arshiya, a student at Matrix Chess Academy, has already begun her rigorous preparation for the upcoming tournament, aiming to make a mark on the world stage.

Coach Prasenjit Dutta is confident in Arshiya's abilities and has expressed his best wishes for her success in the World Cup. Arshiya, on the other hand, is well aware of the tough competition that lies ahead and is leaving no stone unturned in her training.

Arshiya's school, Holy Cross School, is providing her with all the support she needs. The school's principal, vice principal, teachers, and other teachers are all rallying behind Arshiya, offering her constant encouragement and motivation as she prepares to represent India on the global chess stage.
