Sanghati Club Scripts History with Triple Crown Win in Tripura Cricket Tournaments

Sanghati Club achieved a historic milestone in its 44-year history by winning the triple crown for the first time, emerging as champions in the Tapan Memorial Knockout Tournament. Despite participating in cricket tournaments organized by the state cricket association since 1980, Sanghati had previously only managed to secure the Double Crown. This year, under the guidance of coach Sanjib Saha, Sanghati finally clinched the coveted triple crown.

In the final of the Tapan Memorial Knockout Cricket Tournament on Thursday, Sanghati club virtually demolished Cosmopolitan to clinch the Trophy. Cosmopolitan was completely outplayed by Sanghati's pace-spin attack. Sanghati won the final by a massive margin of 134 runs.

Sanghati set a target of 223 runs at the MBB Stadium and while chasing Cosmopolitan could only manage to score 89 runs. Captain Shridham Pal and Arindam Burman of the winning team scored half-centuries.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, Sanghati lost opener Jaydeep Banik (9) early on and found themselves under some pressure. However, Samrat Sutradhar and Shridham Pal put on 40 runs for the second wicket to get the team back in the game.

Agartala-Sanghati-club-TripuraThereafter, Rana Dutta (4) and Saptajit Das (0) were dismissed quickly, putting Sanghati under pressure again. In that situation, Arindam Burman joined Shridham and the pair added 66 runs for the fifth wicket.

Shridham scored 61 runs off 58 balls with the help of 2 boundaries and 4 over-boundaries. Arindam scored a fluent 56 runs off 43 balls with the help of 8 boundaries and 1 over-boundary.

Towards the end, all-rounder Sanjay Majumder and Amaresh Das played key roles in taking the team past the 200-run mark.

Sanjay scored 20 runs off 40 balls with the help of 2 boundaries and Amaresh scored 24 runs off 40 balls with the help of 1 boundary.  

For Cosmopolitan, Dhanbir Singh took 4 wickets for 22 runs and Bikram Debnath took 2 wickets for 36 runs.

In reply, Cosmopolitan Club was on the back foot from the start in the face of Sanghati's pace-spin attack. They were eventually bowled out for just 89 runs in 22.5 overs. At one stage, they were struggling at 35/6. If Chandan Roy had not been able to put up some resistance, the team's score might not have even crossed 60 runs.

Chandan scored 32 runs off 39 balls with the help of 4 boundaries and 1 over-boundary. Apart from him, Bikram Debnath scored 18 runs off 31 balls with the help of 2 boundaries and Shubhrajit Das scored 10 runs off 15 balls with the help of 2 boundaries.

For Sanghati, Samrat Sutradhar took 3 wickets for 21 runs, Sanjay Majumder took 2 wickets for 19 runs and Chiranjit Pal took 2 wickets for 23 runs.
