Tripura has administered more than 40 lakh doses of Covid vaccine, so far. Tripura is one among the few States that has already vaccinated 95 percent of population above 45 years with the first dose, said Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

Addressing the media at BJP state office in Agartala on Friday, Deb hailed Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the country crossed 100 crore vaccinations mark yesterday (October 21, 2021). He also mentioned the support extended by the Centre to Tripura during the Covid pandemic.

Sharing the latest report, Deb said, “Of the total 40,10,109 doses, a total of 25,02,033 eligible people received the first dose and 15,08,073 people among them also got the second dose. A total of 60.27 per cent of the total population received both doses.”

He said the Tripura government took multiple steps including special drives to vaccinate all the eligible people ensuring safety of public health in the wake of Corona Pandemic.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who led the massive vaccination drive in the country, also appreciated the achievement of Tripura, Deb told the media.

Meanwhile, the Vaccination coverage has cast an impact on COVID Positivity Rate also-- during the second wave, the overall positivity rate was less compared to the first wave. In the state, there are 1342 vaccination centres covering almost all the villages.

On the other hand, keeping in view of the pandemic situation, NHM Tripura chapter and Health and Family Welfare department had undertaken several initiatives to reinforce the health care delivery system across Tripura with special focus on Tertiary Care Hospital like State Hospitals and District Hospitals for COVID-19 management. Setting up an Oxygen Generation Plant remained one of the prime initiatives with an objective to generate oxygen for reducing dependence on store and supply of cylinders.

The Chief Minister said, “total 22 PSA Oxygen Generation Plants including 14 supported by PM-CARE, five supported by UNICEF and the remaining three supported by UNDP have been installed and commissioned in the state whereas earlier the state had only three oxygen plants.”

Deb said the state now has sufficient oxygen supply to fight against the projected third wave of Covid-19 or any other such crisis. Almost all the eight districts of Tripura now have at least one oxygen plant.
